Calvin Coolidge
Calvin Coolidge was the 30th Prsident of the United States from 1923-1929. He was vice-president to Warren G. Harding, when Harding dies from a heart attack in 1923 he took over as President. Coolidge administration is disputed upon for its control and regulation on the economy. Coolidge believed in a free economy with low regulations on business. He wanted business in America to thrive and under him American business leaped ahead of everyone else, contributing almost 30% of the worlds economy. With the exception of favoring increased tariffs, Coolidge disdained regulation, and carried about this belief by appointing commissioners to the Federal Trade Commision and the Interstate Commerce Commision who did little to restrict the activities of businesses under their jurisdiction.
"It is probable that a press which maintains an intimate touch with the business currents of the nation is likely to be more reliable than it would be if it were a stranger to these influences. After all, the chief business of the American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with buying, selling, investing and prospering in the world."
